Butterfly Squad creative team inspiration: Melina

Hello lovely Butterflies,

You know you can only be inspired when Butterfly Squad member Melina shares one of her tutorials! And this time again, she takes us into her very own universe of layering in beauty. Keep on reading!

Hello fellow Butterflies!

This is my first personal blog post here this year.

Hope you are all fine and enjoying the new year so far!

If you are not, hope you are coping the best you can and use your creativity to deal with ”stuff”.

The page I´m going to share today is very much a ”dealing-with-stuff-page”!

Here´s what I did:

I apply Magenta, Yellow and Teal colours to the page quite randomly as a base layer.

I add some white paint through France´s Honeycombe stencil, just leaving thin lines of the colourful background.

For the next layer I add some stamping, using script stamps from the London New York stamp set. I then go in with some black Modeling paste through France´s large Warp grid stencil for contrast and texture.

I use France´s Torned Circle stencil and apply two lines of quite thick crackle paste to the bottom of the page.

When the crackle paste is dry, it´s time to create ”the body” of the page with some more colours. I use Quin.Gold in the black circles and let it run down using water. I use Quin.Magenta on and around the cracks, and black towards the bottom of the page for balance.

I use the stamp set How shall I put it, and stamp random words along the left side of the page.

I colourize some cambric using Phthalo Turquoise and let it dry. I add a few Butterfly Whispers Mixed Media stickers on the page. I stamp words from the same stamp set again onto deli paper. I choose some words that speaks to me and attach them in the circles using matte medium. As a final layer I attach the colourized cambric on the page using mini staples, and make some turquoise spatters on the page to make it work with the cambric.

The last stamped words on the page are ”ps: there´s hope”...

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Take care,

Melina
