Butterfly Squad creative team inspiration: Helen

Hello lovely Butterflies!

Helen here to share a little fast art journal page with you! Sometimes it’s OK to go back to basics and just play for the sake of playing! That is just what I did with this spread! I used some techniques I haven’t used in ages and it was fun!

First of all… I took a piece of white tissue paper that I had from a shoe box and used some blue-violet archival ink and inked all of the stamps from France Papillon for Illusionary Artists “New York Stamp Set”. I covered the entire tissue just stamping randomly. Once it was dry, I crunched it up into a ball a few times, and flattened it. This allowed some cool creases in the tissue.

I then took some DecoArt Matte Medium and adhered the crinkled tissue paper to my pages.

Using DecoArt Tinting Base and DecoArt Fluid Acrylic in Dioxazine Purple, I mixed it up and spread it across my spread. I also added some of the Dioxazine Purple by itself around the edges to make them darker.

Once this dried on its own, I used the archival blue violet ink and stamped some numbers on my spread using France Papillon for Illusionary Artists stamp “Rock’n Rust”. I also used France Papillon stencil “Rock Formation – small” to add some grounding for my photo.

I need a heart! So, using France Papillon stencil “Rectangles – small”, I traced a heart, colorized it with the Dioxazine Purple, clear coated it with DecoArt Triple Glaze. I added my sentiment, and a little photo that I think is just so adorable, stuck it down and the heart!

And voila! My finished spread that was way to fun to do and a quick easy piece!

Happy creating!
