Butterfly Squad creative team inspiration: Marit

Hello sweet Butterflies,

I'm writing this from the hospital where I'm still working hard to get over the surgery I had last week. Please cross everything you have so that the planned returned home this weekend can happen, okay? I'm counting on you!

Meanwhile, I'm so lucky to have an amazing team to keep things going here and on the facebook group! Butterfly Squad, if you're reading this: thank youuuuu!!

Today it's Marit turns to share an amazing piece she made for my Hochanda shows. Check it out! This is what she has to say:

I was so thrilled when I saw the new stamps and stencils in my hands. I knew I had to do a project Halloween style. So I made a minibook with the Creeptacular stamp set and binded the pages together with bookbinding rings.

I’ll show you how I made one of the pages today. The pages are watercolor paper cut into a coffin shape which I found on the internet.

The first thing I did was gluing down tissue paper I had laying around from my wedding veil. I glued it down with some wrinkles to create some texture. And after it dried I did some background stamping.

Because the brand to obviously readable on the tissue paper I applied some crackle paint with a palette knive.

One of the Halloween colors is orange. But because I don’t use that color so often, I don’t have that ready to go in my stash. So I had to make a mixture with red and yellow. I diluted the Fluid Acrylics even more to get a variety of shades going on onto the page. After coloring it I used the circles stamp for the background.

To get an even more creepy look I diluted black paint to make some drippage seeping through the crackle paint. Love to use the benefit of the crackle paint. I also used the black paint to color the edges.

I embossed the bat on black cardstock and glued it on the top of the page.

I really love the texture on this page.

Here are photos of the other pages in this minibook. I enjoyed making it.

I hope you like it too and I will see you next time.

Love XO

Marit
