Butterfly Squad creative team inspiration: Natascha

Hi Hi sweet Butterflies, Natascha here.

I’m back with another art journal spread for you as my personal project. Last year I was with my dad in Aruba. Because he´s sick but lives there. When he was out of the hospital and a did better, he took me to a local craftshop on the island. It was a large shop and they had a lot of nice stuff. From my dad I got a lot of beautiful stuff and I also got this art journal. It´s a difficult journal to work in because there a different papers in it, also there are burlap pages.

This time I worked with a normal page and a burlap page.

Hope you like it…..

First I drew circles on the burlap with the stencil ¨TO THE MOON AND BACK¨ from France and then I cut them out.

On the other page I added Gesso. And also on the page under the burlap page I added Gesso.

Next I added with a make –up spons some paints from light till darker. With a paintbrush I try to let the paint blend with each other. I did this on the left site page and the burlap page. The page under the burlap is for later.

Then I drew with a black posca pen the borders of the circles to give them more dept, I did not like this…….. It was to hard and I had to figure out how I could fix it. I stamped with Archival jet black ink some cracles around the holes and added some splatters and let some black paint dripped from the holes. Now it was a lot better.

Next I´m working on the page under the burlap, I added paint with a brush and a lot of water to get a messy look. Then I added some black splatters and stamped the bat from ¨CREEPTACULAR¨ in the holes so you see them through.

I think the background is ready, So I glued the burlap on the page under it with Matte Medium.

For my focal points I used the stamps from ¨CREEPTACULAR¨ and the word stamps from ¨HOW SHALL I PUT IT¨. I also colored some cambric and took a piece of ribbon from my stash. By the words I inked the edges and then I glued everything on the page with Matte Medium.

Last but not least I shadowed everything with a FC Big Brush artist pen en inked the edges of the pages with archival inkt.

I always look up to work in this art journal because it´s so precious for me and I don´t want to do things wrong in it. But it was a lot of fun to make this spread and I hope you will enjoy it.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Big kisses from me xxx
