Butterfly Squad creative team inspiration: Saadia

Hi everyone,

Saadia here:

I want to share with you an art journal cover that I altered with France Papillon’s stencils and stamps and DecoArt media products.

Here is how I made it:

It is my old Dylusions journal. I cut the Elastic band on the cover and glued book pages on it with DecoArt’s gel medium. The book pages are not visible in the finished cover because I changed my idea about the type of paints and the mediums that I wanted to use.

Next, I applied DecoArt’s white modeling paste through France Papillon’s small crackle stencil.

I covered a rectangular piece of MDF board with a thick layer of DecoArt’s white crackle paint and set it aside to dry.

I painted the cover with chalk paints

Applied DecoArt’s black antiquing cream to the cover and the MDF piece and removed it with a damp cloth and sealed it with ultra matte varnish.

Then, I used France Papillon’s large circles stencil for my focal point. Glued a piece of circular cambric on it. Colored and glued my focal image; it is from France Papillon’s Illusionary Artists Creepers and crawlers stamp set.

Stamped, heat embossed and glued the title.

That’s it for today. I hope you like it.

Thank you for visiting

Take care

Saadia Nawaz.
