Butterfly Squad creative team inspiration: Marit

Hello sweet butterflies!

I'm here again with some new inspiration. This time I chose to make some ATC's.

I started with black cardstock and watercolor paper and cut it into the ATC sizes. The watercolor paper 1/8 inch smaller than the cardstock.

My first layer was stamping with various stamps from the London New York set.

Next I glued some strips of old bookpaper.

I added texture with 2 stencils and crackle paste and modeling paste. And I let it airdry for the best result.

Time for some color. I used Hansa Yellow Light and a mixture of that same yellow with Naphthol Red Light to make an orange color.

I diluted it and applied it with a brush and a baby wipe to keep it soft.

I wasn't very happy with how the modeling paste turned out. Though it's a white modeling paste, it didn't stand out on the bookpaper. So I used tinting base to whiten it and applied it with a make up sponge throught the stencils.

Finally the finishing touches. I stamped and colored 2 creatures and cut them in half. I also stamped some words on kraft cardstock and inked the edges. And glued everything together. The last step was to glue the ATC's on black cardstock with some sticky tape and it was done!

I hope you like them and am curious what you think about them.

See you next time! Love XO

Marit
