Hello lovely Butterflies!
Helen here again for a little show of what I have been working on the past few days!! I wanted to use France’s butterfly stamp from her Illusionary Arts Stamp set, “Creepers and Crawlers”, in a different way and decided to stamp it, and cut it out of heavy cardstock. As you can see from the butterfly on the right, I am going to use this as a stencil over the background of my spread this week. I also stamped off a few more butterflies to use later on!
One can never have enough butterflies!

For the next step, I covered my double spread with DecoArt Gesso, and then colorized it with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in Cobalt Teal Hue. I the used DecoArt Crackle Paint and went over the butterfly stencil I made over my entire spread. I let this dry over night at this point!

Once that dried, I used some of the Cobalt Teal Hue and DecoArt Chalky Finish in Keepsake and watered it down and applied several layers until I was happy with the coverage.

I stamped some words and postage stamps onto the spread using France’s set for Illusionary Artists, “London New York” set… my favourite!!! I used Sepia archival ink for this step. I also inked around the edges. I used some watered down DecoArt Fluid Acrylic in Burnt Sienna to add around the edges as well, and some splatters!

Remember those butterflies I cut out at the beginning? I colorized them with some left over watered down Cobalt Teal Hue, Burnt Sienna, and the Keepsake. I also wanted to show you the crackle on the butterfly after it has been colorized! It turned out amazing!

Then to make my little word embellishment, I used Frances stamp set for Illusionary Artist, “Perfect Words” and mixed and matched a couple to get my title… Follow your Butterfly! I adhered this to a piece of colorized cambric I had from previously, and some black thread behind that. I then added my butterflies... and voila! Follow your Butterfly is completed!

I hope you enjoyed this spread this week and hope to see you use your stamps in a different way!
Happy creating!
