Butterfly Squad creative team inspiration: Marit
Hello sweet butterflies,
Marit here with some inspiration for you. This time I wanted to do something else than an art journal page. So I used a Mini Book with bendy spine from Tando Creative and made a mini art journal. And also I wanted to use a product I didn't use before.
First of all I painted the Mini Book with black gesso to give it a dark base. This was neccessary because I wanted to use light colored paints. The second base was a coat of Crackle Medium and I let that airdry.

Next step is a coat with 2 colors Americana Decor Chalky Finish. I applied it with brushes and wanted to create a beach wood look with a peeled paint effect. Try to apply the paint in 1 brush stroke, this will give the best effect. And because the weather was so warm, crackles appeared immediately while painting.

When my paint was dry I used some background stamps and grey and black ink to create some texture.

And already time to make some embellishments. I used the same colors to paint some cambric. I stamped the insect on some white cardstock and colored it with pencils and white spirit. And stamped the hearts and text with Versamark and white embossing powder.

Wow.... it only needs some assemblance and my mini journal was done. With some paper in it, it is easy to take with you on a trip or vacation. This fits in your bag easily.

I hope to see you next time with some new inspiration!
Love,
Marit
