Butterfly Squad creative team inspiration: Melina

Hi fellow Butterflies!

It´s Melina here today, and I have a mixed media tag to share with you.

I love animals – yes, creepers and crawlers too, and I LOVE spring! At last spring is in the air here in Sweden. All little animal friends wakes up, it´s new life everywhere and I just want to sit on a rock in the forest and LISTEN.

Here´s what I did:

I started out with a piece of gelli printed paper that I cut into a tag shape.

I used DecoArt Crackle paste through the Rockformation stencil and allowed it to air dry.

I diluted DecoArt gesso with water and applied a layer on the whole tag. I did some background stamping with one of the script stamps from Illusionary Artists London NY stamp set using Sepia Archival ink. I used the Circles stencil and drew a few circles with a permanent Pitt artist pen.

I used DecoArt Quinacridone Gold fluid acrylic paint and painted around the circles and diluted the paint with water further from the circles to fade it out. I then used Raw Umber on the rockformation part of the tag.

I made some splashes with diluted gesso and stamped my quote with one of the stamps from Illusionary Artists Perfect words stamp set. I stamped the lizzard from Creepers and Crawlers stamp set, coloured him with DecoArt Phthalo Turquoise and cut him out. I glued the lizzard down and used a watercolour pencil to add some shade around him. There he is, sunbathing on the rocks.

Finally I backed the tag with white cardstock and added a piece of hemp twine.

My tag is finished!
