Butterfly Squad creative team inspiration: Melina
Hello fellow Butterflies!
It´s Melina here today sharing my first project as a member of the France Papillon Butterfly Squad.
I´m going to share how I made a mixed media tag with step photos, but first a little reminder – Emotions in shapes! How is it going with your ”A layer a day, A spread a week” challenge over at the France Papillon and Creative Butterflies FaceBook group? Can´t wait to see what you create!
Now back to my tag :)

Here´s what I did:
When creating the ATC´s for France´s stamp release blog post, all left over mediums on my craft sheet ended up on this white/greyboard tag. The stains, splashes and smudges are diluted DecoArt fluid acrylics and the orange is modeling paste coloured with DecoArt Pyrrole Orange fluid acrylics that was left on the Crackled stencil.

I used diluted DecoArt fluid acrylics Phthalo Green-Blue and Raw Umber to get down some base colours. I let them run over my tag, the green-blue from the top and the raw umber from the bottom.

I coloured Deco Art Crackle paste with Phthalo Green-Blue and applied through the Circles stencil.

When the crackle paste was dry, I applied DecoArt black Antiquing cream to the circles and around the edges. When dry I whiped the cream off using a baby whipe and just left the cream in the cracks and on the area closest to the circles to frame them.

I used a piece of scrap paper as a mask and stamped with one of the script stamps from Illusionary Artists London New York stamp set. Then slightly moved the paper to just cover the circles and made some splashes with diluted DecoArt white fluid acrylics.

I stamped the gorgeous octopus from Illusionary Artists Creepers and Crawlers stamp set on a piece of watercolour paper to use as my focal point. I diluted DecoArt fluid acrylics Phthalo Turquoise and Blue Green Light to colour the image. I then fussy cut it out and adhered using 3D pads. I stamped the word Explore from Illusionary Artists Perfect words stamp set and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

Here´s my finished tag.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!
xx Melina
