A layer a day - A spread a week: week 5

Hello fellow Butterflies!

It´s Veerle here taking you along on our weekly Alad/Asaw challenge.

In case this is the first time you read about the challenge, check out the first blog post on the subject here, where we explain what it is all about.

week 5

Darkness has it's beauty

When I say darkness what are you thinking about? Are you thinking of dark nights or dark places, maybe you are just taken away to those negative thoughts everyone sometimes has. Or are you thinking about all the dark colored mediums that are waiting in your craftroom?

Darkness always has this negative vibe hanging over it. Nobody thinks of happy or beautiful things when we talk about darkness. We rather see a black spot where danger is making its way to you. Yet for me darkness has its beauty. You need the darkness to enjoy the light.

It’s the darkest and hardest moments in my life that have made me who I am and who have made me as strong as I am today. Yes it has given me scars but darkness has done a lot more for me then only cause me harm. Just listen to what it’ is saying to you, and you’ll see.

And have you noticed how much brighter your colors become when you add that splash of black?

I know too much black on your project can be overwhelming for some people. But just that tiny bit of black can make a bright color even brighter.

So how to approach this challenge? That’s completely up to you. Do you want to go and tell part of your story? How one thing has made you grow and be as beautiful as you are today? Or do you want to go and see how you can brighten up your colors by adding that splash of black on your project?

Or you can just go and make any project you like in dark colors, just because you love dark colors. That’s a possibility too of course.

I’m really looking forward in seeing your take on this challenge. And of course I’ll be playing along with all of you this week. I’ll be sharing my layers in the album on the ‘France Papillon and

Creative Butterflies’ Facebook group and I hope to see your projects there too.

If you have any question, or think you are stuck in times, give me a shout and I’ll be there to try and get you going again.

Have fun creating!

Lots of love,

Veerle
